Call for submissions: Mt. Barker Development Plan

Under the State Government's Development Plan Amendment (DPA) for Mt Barker, the town's population could almost quadruple, increasing by over 30,000 in fifteen years. Over 1300 hectares of prime farmland, rural character and scenic beauty will be lost. There are no jobs or infrastructure proposals.

Click here to download a information kit on making your submission ... It is intended for use electronically, to alert as many people as possible to what's wrong with the DPA and to assist them in making a submission. It contains various levels of detail:

1. A map (works better on the computer because you can zoom in on it)
2. Introduction and potted history for those who don't know
3. Summary of main problems with DPA
4. A page on how to make a submission
5. A (modified) analysis of the DPA in more depth, enabling people to quote chapter and verse if they wish.

Please use this to help yourselves make a submission. Please also send by email to as many people as you can, and ask that they send on. Note that the deadline for submissions is August 4th.

There is no required format for submissions - letter form or dot point is okay. The submission can be short, handwritten is acceptable, and please make as many points as possible. However, use your own words, as template submissions will be rejected.
